Meh that episode wasn't so great.
But the Simpsons DO have the odd absolutely hilarious moments even on the crap new ones. And there was a really good episode (only one) in the last season.
But I'm afraid I have to agree with Brenton. Futurama was funnier from the Simpsons from day one. If the Simpsons had been in it's prime... then maybe not, but it wasn't. And could Futurama have lasted 20 seasons? I've no doubt. There's MUCH more to do, since they have an infinite universe to explore. Even if it ended up repeating its storylines and jokes, like the Simpsons do now.
Plus Futurama had more heart than any of those other cartoons put together. It was just overall a better show. And Rupert Murdoch should be shot out of a cannon for axing it.
Also, I can't help but notice the ridiculous situation of having this debate on the poll board without actually MAKING a poll for it.

i think futurama seemed funnier from day 1 because you were older and got more of the subtle jokes compared to when the simpsons first came out

I didn't watch the Simpsons when it first came out.
I mean on the day Futurama came out, it was funnier than the Simpsons that were being released at that time.
Also, the first episode of the Simpsons doesn't even seem to have a single funny bit in it, from memory, so Futurama would win there anyway.
