Im gonna start off by sayin this.....
#$^@$*%#^!$%@$&*@%$&^$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok
Ppl who use Macs regularly can either completely relate to this, or will call me some strange name cause they are in actual fact, an Apple fan boy. Meh, Apple sucks teh wang.
Was in a chem lab class today, but instead of the usual mixing stuff up and seeing what we got, we were given a data sheet and had to go to a computer lab and use Excel to correlate the data and make some graphs.
Ok, no problem, i know how to use Excel, should be done in about 30 mins or so...
How wrong i was....
From the moment i entered the room, and saw the Macs, i knew i was doomed. Well, doomed to waste far more time that was needed to do this piddling little task. I havent even used a mac since primary school. Honestly, what sort of computer has a mouse WITH ONLY 1 BUTTON?!!??!!?? Never have i missed something so simple as a 2 button mouse. I would have settled for a 10 year old ball mouse, so long as it had 2 buttons. No, instead i have this weird lookin clear pieve of plastic with an optical sensor under it, and no button to see at all. In other words, one of these:
EDIT: Bah, never mind, cant get it to link properly
Ok, i finally get over the shock of this 'mouse', when i go to click on the Excel icon. No problems there. Except instead of actually opening a whole page of excel like these normal computers do, all it does is give me an excel menu bar. WTF?? IF I SAY OPEN EXCEL I MEAN GET ME A NEW WORKBOOK TOO YOU N00B COMPUTER!!!!!!
So, i open a new workbook. And surprisingly, things look remarkably familiar. I go about inputting the data, thinking i may actually be able to get along with this thing.
Then i have to format some cells. Ok, no biggie, i'll just highlight the cells, right click and.... oh fuck, NO RIGHT CLICK!!! Umm, where is the menu option for this....? Ok, after hunting around wasting several seconds i find the right menu and things contiue.... for about 5 seconds. Now i have to delete a sheet cause i made a graph of the wrong thing. Ok, right click on the sheet tab.... oh wait, same thing again... have to hunt for the right menu....
*2 hours later*
Must... Restrain... Self............. Cant.... Affort.... To.... Break.... Uni.... Property....
Argh.... Alan, Val, i feel ur pain guys.... that guy in that mac video is completely right....

An eMac is a like an "e"ducational Mac. It's meant to be a low cost Mac for schools and stuff. The apple has like a Windows button, but it's an Apple button. It's like a second mouse-button. I hate the bloody things, I mean, sure, they're sexy and all, and the screens are just like "omg, woah!" but still, they're a bitch to use. I don't know how they can say anything about its "legenary ease of use".
Our teacher at uni has a Power Book (Mac laptop). It was getting repaird for something, and I called it a "rotten apple"... Oh, I got such a glare from that teacher! bwhahaha...
Well, I carry a 5-button mouse in my bag with my laptop, so I just need to plug that in to use a Mac! The most annoying thing about it is the fact that pushing "Enter" on an icon doesn't launch anything, it's simply lets you rename it... WTF IS THAT!?
OH! And I also hate how you can't get to the fucking desktop on a mac easily, and EVERYTHING saves as a PDF and how no application have a background, and you click somewhere and then you're in another application! I MEAN SERIOUSLY!

Wat OS were u using? Cause I cant use a mac unless it has > OSX
Anyway I had the same attitude as Josh until trying to do my 3D Animation subject on the new G5's. It took ages to render files and i swear it would be much faster at home. But its not that bad because if u use a mac at uni or some other organisation there gonna have all the default shit and nothing installed so its like using a PC with a fresh install of windows and u cant customise anything.
Anyway there was something i was gonna say... ummm... ah forgotten. If i could have two comps id prob have a mac, cause once you have ur own multiple button mouse it becomes a lot harder to hate them.

There are some good plug-ins you should get for it. I'll see if i can get a list of the ones im using and post them up..... Ok, first off is the ever-popular Adblock. Good for blocking all those fucking annoying crazy frog ads and those ads that websites usually put right in the middle of the article you are reading. adblock.mozdev.org/TabBrowser Preferences. Basicly makes the tab browsing better. Well, it does in my opinion anyway. 216.55.161.203/theonekea/tabprefs/NetUsage Item. Great little meter that lets you check your monthly download limit at a glance. Works with Optus Cable and a list of others as well. netusage.mozdev.org/ with a list of supported ISPs here netusage.mozdev.org/isps.htmlFinally, theres ForecastFox. Basicly weather for your computer. I find its a little innacurate, but thats probably cause its getting its info from america and they dont have a clue. Still, its not too bad forecastfox.mozdev.org/

I don't use Forecast Fox anymore, when I installed the last update to it it completely fucked Firefox up so that I couldn't even run it and couldn't stop the computer from trying to run it. The cursor would just sit there flashing between pointer and hour glass, and when I looked in Processes in Task Manager I could see that FF kept appearing and disappearing from it and so fast that I couldn't stop the process. I had to uninstall and reinstall FF to get it working again.
