I dont understand why the hitboxes would lead the model. Sometimes ive seen ppl die while shooting behind the model so I dont think its that conclusive. I really dont remember 1.6 being much better anyway.

Was just reading a bit on the Steam forums and it seems to be going either way.

Well, preferably the hitboxes could be a lot closer to the model, but this current huge differentiation between hitbox position and model position is probably as good as Valve could get it with only 33 updates a second from the server.

Remember, they wanted CS:S to perform similarly to CS1.6 netcode for whatever reasons. It was a big selling point that the data rates were almost identical.

Play on servers with higher tickrates and the situation improves. But the situation in the video demonstrates what most of us experience from playing on standard 33 tickrate servers.

no servers with ticrates above default 33.9 exist in australia

1.6 is alot better, atleast 2 times closer than that, also remember that vid os on lan.... LAN!!!! so theres no lag. Imagine it on a server :S

Anyway with 1.6 still completely infested with cheaters i think ill stick to Source.

Just got another word from valve

the VAC2 that is currently running on servers is a BETA. In its current version it doesnt actually detect cheats nor kick/ban them. The BETA is running to test the connectivity coding that has been written for the new VAC and as current has succesfully made it impossible for roughly 20% of gamers to connect to servers that are currently running VAC2. It is preventing legit players from playing atm. so if u connect and that happens flame valve.

Im actually thinking of strating a valve hate chan on ETG
