What do you guys think about laptops? I was thinking of getting one for university, but the highest core 2 duo laptop cpu doesn't even come close to matching the highest core 2 duo for desktops and it costs a ridiculous amount more...

My view on laptops are if you dont absolutely need one so you can work anywhere, spend the money on a better desktop. And if you really need a laptop for work that doesnt need to be high-spec (like just word processing and stuff), then get a dirt-cheap one and still get a good desktop.
Really nothing earth-shattering i know, but yeah. Val always goes on about how awesome his laptop is, and i still prefer my desktop. I get a proper keyboard and stuff. They probably perform about the same but i think his laptop is worth like $5k (which he got a bit cheaper thru his work or something), and my desktop cost about $2k, including monitor.
Also dont have to worry about my desktop getting stolen.

yeah i agree with you brenton, cause like i would rather get a better desktop and woul dprobably still be cheaper...but the convenience of having it for uni would be so good...dont really need ti for anything but uni....but i couldnt settle for a piece of shit so id probably wanna get an awesome one...which is why i am thinking i will probably deal with not having one ata ll...lol
