What the hell? I'm forced to think I did something wrong when I made EasyMac. Because there is no way what I did could possibly be right. Let me describe (from memory, since I did it like 9 months ago) :
I'd seen the ads. EasyMac looked fairly good. And as long as I didn't sneak into my girlfriends house and get caught by her beefy dad to make it, it seemed easy enough to do.
So I put it together EXACTLY as the packet described. In every way. When I took it out of the microwave, all the water had completely been absorbed, but not at all by the sauce. There was orange powdery stuff all over semi-soggy pasta.
So I did the obvious thing, I added more water. And when it didnt work this time, I added more again. I stirred (again) and added more... several times in fact.
The result? Pasta which was fairly decent... with the same orange powder cheese sauce.
Finally I thought "Well, this isn't at all how the ad showed this... but it's not changing..." as I'd cooked it far longer and with far more water than advised.
So, I ate it.
And it was like eating pasta and sand.
Go EasyMac. At least they got one thing right. Their sand was cheese-flavoured.

Hmm, my sister eats this stuff all the time, and it seems to turn out less like you describe. Anyway, all will be revealed in the GREAT ALFREDO/MACARONI + CHEESE REVIEW!!!

This question just popped into my mind.
How would you compare this easymac with say... The Macaroni and Cheese from Smorgy's!!!!!!!! While I cant really compare the two I can comment on the Smorgy's variety. It could only be described as this.
Have you ever drunk from a bucket of water and accidently swolled some of the chunky floaty bits? Well then you've more than likely eaten Smorgy's original macaroni and cheese.

It seems a combination of the two would be perfect. Two much water on one, two much cheesey sand on the other.
The combination would make either the perfect mac and cheese, or else a cheesey beach.

Extending that, was Byron Bay originally constructed from Macaroni and Cheese?
Actually thats probably more beachy than cheesey, must be like a 80% smorgys to 20% easymac ratio.

Having had an EasyMac recently, i can say that if you cook it right, there is no real sandy quality, and though i wouldn't rank it with (old) continental's finest, it certainly was a lot better then the 'nose bleed' instant stuff i had.....
