Yes, this is where we will answer Continental's betrayal by finding what is the new best alfredo (or macaroni cheese) on the market. All will be prepared by the same method, in the microwave, because thats far easier to cook and clean up than on the stove. Week 1: San Remo Alfredo. Its not too bad, the cheeses are obviously different to the Continental because the sauce is a darker colour, possibly to the inclusion of more Cheddar cheese. The pasta is fettucini twists, and although the twists look rether severe, they cook to a delightful half-twist by eating time. Overall, i'd give it a 7 out of 10. It microwaved well, no congealing of the sauce, but the sauce just didnt seem perfect. Next time, some other brand!

Review 2a: Fantastic Pasta Pronto: Macaroni Cheese This was supposed to be 2 reviews in 1, but i ran out of time, so it will be a 2-parter. And there will be a picture when Alan gets around to making it for me. Ok, Macaroni cheese... A good macaroni cheese will have a well-blended cheese sauce that permiates the macaroni, coating it and even clogging the noodles with cheese. The desired result is, as Shay described in the other thread, a burst of cheesey goodness with every bite. And then there's this.... I wasnt really confident of a good product that can be made by adding boiling water to powder and leaving it to sit for 3 minutes. I was not inspired when i opened the cup and found these pissy little excuses for macaroni. Wtf? It was like a tiny worm that had been turned into pasta. I immediately thought "Theres no way any decent amount of cheese is getting into that macaroni". Anyway, i pressed on and opened the powder sachet (the colour was a weird combination of bright yellow and flourescent orange), and added the water. Stirring also was unconvincing. The powder hardly dissolved at all, leaving huge clumps of powder floating in a now-murky puddle of macaroni and water. **FAST FORWARD 3 MINUTES** Opening the lid again did not boost my hopes of a good feed (but then again, i wasnt really expecting much). The clumps of powder had not dissolved, so i went about stirring the mucky mess. Some of the lumps decided to break up slightly, but it was mostly a useless exercise. Anyway, i was hungry, so i tucked in. And immediately wished I hadn't. The non-dissolved lumps of cheese were supposed to be turning the excess water into a cheese sauce. Instead, i had tiny macaroni floating in weird-tasting water and the occasional explosion of a bad cheesy taste. The macaroni was very chewey and like i prediceted, no cheese had got to the middle. So i was basicly eating unflavoured macaroni and wet cheese powder. Yum. Somehow i managed to finish the whole thing (it didnt get better) and went back to work. I didnt feel likp puking my guts up, which was good, though about half an hour later i did get an unexplained nosebleed, and i had to take time off to go home and get changed. An Interesting, unrelated side-note: At the supermarket, the price tag on the shelf read something like Fantastic Pasta Pron Macaroni Cheese $0.75 Hehe, pasta pron..... mildly funny. Now for the scoring: For convinience: 9/10. Its damn easy to make, even comes with its own fork. The only way to make it easier would be to have something you ddnt even have to add boiling water to, but thats pretty damn impossible. For taste: 1/10. The only thing saving it from getting a zero is it didnt make me barf up what was left of my breakfast (a Big M and 2 bread rolls). Tomorrow: the same brand, only Alfredo this time!

"Tastes great Tom... but is my nose supposed to bleed like this?" "Probably!"
How could you possibly eat the Alfredo after that?
